Academic Challenge Team

Students who like answering questions from the Jeopardy TV Show, winning at Quiz Bowl Competitions—are perfect members for joining ACADEMIC CHALLENGE TEAM! Asking friends trivia questions from pop culture, math, science, English, social studies, music, or even current events are highlight of our TEAM Members! Challenging people to see if they know answers to your questions will lead us to a TEAM VICTORY in competition.

Amateur Radio Club

Our amateur radio station is equipped to transmit and receive HF, VHF and UHF frequencies in all modes. Most of our equipment has been donated by local HAM radio operators for our students to learn with. Our FCC call-sign is N4GCS. Students must have a signed permission form to participate in hands-on activities (transmitting on-air, soldering/construction).

Family, Career & Community Leaders of America

FCCLA is a dynamic and exciting student organization that is focused on training the student leaders of today to reach their full potential. Our organizations travels all over the state of Georgia throughout the year attending FCCLA leadership conferences, STAR Event competitions, cook-offs, hands-on training workshops, State culinary events and Summer camp. Students can qualify to compete at local, regional, state, and national events to receive prizes, medals, and scholarships. We are a service-oriented organization with several community service projects throughout the year to give back to our community. Check out our student organization and Be a Part of It!

Future Business Leaders of America

FBLA is a Career and Technology Student Organization for students preparing for careers in business, entrepreneurial or business-related fields. The association prepares students for the business world by promoting leadership, increasing understanding of American Free Enterprises, establishing career goals, encouraging scholarship, promoting efficient money management, and developing character and self-confidence. FBLA activities encourage career development, civic service, economic education, community involvement and business advocacy.

DECA

Founded in 1946, DECA has impacted the lives of more than ten million students, educators, administrators and business professionals. DECA’s programs and activities have constantly evolved by using the latest technology and apply cutting edge educational research. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. It enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, applying learning in the context of business, connecting to business and the community and promoting competition. The student members leverage their DECA experience to become academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders. DECA values competence, innovation, integrity and teamwork.

Junior BETA Club

The Junior BETA Club honors the outstanding academic achievement, worthy character, and commendable attitude of 7th and 8th grade students. Members are given opportunities for promoting leadership, character, and social responsibility through numerous school and community service projects. Membership is through invitation of student meeting academic requirements.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Fellowship of Christian Athletes: (FCA) The mission and purpose of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes is to make our school/community a better place by sharing the love and truth of Christ in a non-condemning way through the influence of athletes. You don't have to be an athlete to join us, but ready for food, fun, fellowship, and a message.

National Honor Society

National Honor Society has four main purposes:
1: to create enthusiasm for scholarship,
2: to stimulate a desire to render service,
3: to promote leadership, and
4: to develop character in the students of secondary schools.
Students are invited to join based on academic standing.

Reading Bowl

The Reading Bowl reads from a list of pre-selected books from August - January. Students will compete against others schools by recalling book details for a quiz bowl.

Robotics TEAM

Students work to create robotics out of kits equipped with Lego gears, wheels, motors and sensors. The robots will be entered into competition against other schools!

Student Council

A group of student leaders who work with an adult adviser to collaborate with others to impact their school community, which impacts their city or town, which impacts our state, which impacts our country, which changes the world.

TOME Society

The mission of the Tome Student Literacy Society is to promote multiple literacies among 4th-12th grade students across the United States through: service; collaboration; competition-based club activities; and clean, entertaining, encouraging literature.

Yearbook

The GMS Yearbook Club will be responsible for producing the annual GMS yearbook. Students will learn basic photography, the interview process, layout and design, and distribution.
