Student and Parent Compact
What is a School/Parent Compact?
The GMS East School/Parent compact is an agreement that parents, students, and teachers develop together. It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all our students reach grade level goals. A school leadership team meeting and School Governance Team Meeting was held to seek input form stakeholders April 2024.
District Goals: By June 2025,
-increase achievement on state assessments in the area of ELA by 3 percentage points.
-increase achievement on state assessments in the area of Math by 3 percentage points.
-decrease the percentage of students in Tiers 2 and 3 by 2 percentage points.
Schools Goals: By May 2025,
-increase student growth on universal screener from Aug 24 in Reading by 3%
-increase student growth on universal screener from Aug 24 in Math by 3%
-decrease the % of students by 2 % points in Tiers 2 & 3.
-In Exploratory, Science, & SS, students will improve mastery of standards on pre- & post assessments by 3%.
SCHOOL: We will work with students and families to support student success by:
· Working in collaborative teacher teams to devise strategies to support and enhance academic success.
· Providing a family friendly communication through teacher and school with academic and behavior supports.
· Providing parents with access to our Parent Coordinator, Infinite Campus Parent Portal, and other resources.
· Communicating with families using all forms of media-phone calls, face-to-face meetings, social media, mail, newsletter, etc. with updated contact information
PARENTS: We will work to support our child and the school student success by:
· Knowing my child’s ABCs (Attendance, Behavior and Classroom success) by accessing Parent Portal.
· Motivating my child to be at school each day on time and staying at school all day.
· Encouraging my child to READ every day—books, magazines, articles, and more—for at least 20 minutes.
· Staying informed regarding my child’s educational progress by promptly reading notices (email, letters, etc) from the school, including report cards and progress reports, and responding promptly.
· Supporting my student’s academic success by asking questions about class activities, helping complete projects, and encouraging my child to complete practice problems to master standards.
· Participating in school/class events, parent nights, open house, curriculum nights, and extracurricular activities.
· Keep contact information updated at school.
· Supporting the school policy of no cells phones during the school day to keep the focus on a positive learning environment as school.
STUDENTS: As a student at GMS, I will strive for success by:
· Following the student expectations of READY, RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, ROLE MODEL behavior each day as taught by the GMS Way.
· Fully participating in learning activities in class and complete assignments to show mastery of standards.
· Asking for help for skills or tasks if unclear of how to complete with success.
· Reading to learn more.
