Open House

Open House: August 1st & 2nd

Make plans now to attend OPEN HOUSE! We want to allow you and your child the time to meet his/her TEAM of teachers for the school year during OPEN HOUSE. Get your child's schedule, meet the team of teachers, buy your SPIRIT WEAR! You will get school and team information for your child for the school year. Each student is assigned an appointment time to attend in 30 minute blocks. We mail postcards to each family using the address in Infinite Campus around July 15. If you need to change or adjust the time or day once you receive your postcard, please call the school at 770-534-4237 to make the change or email shailice.lopez@gcssk12.net

            Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 12 noon to 7 pm     Friday, August 2, 2024 from 9 am until 3 pm

Parent/Guardian Checklist PRIOR to OPEN HOUSE 
Completing this checklist will decrease the time you spend filling out forms at open house!  
  1. Parents/Guardians are asked to download the Infinite Campus PARENT PORTAL app or use the website. For help, please visit the GCSS Page. Activation Key for each parent/guardian is available during open house if needed for new accounts. 
     
  2. On the PARENT PORTAL APP, parents/guardians are asked to update your details of phone number, contact name and number of who can pick up your child or we can reach out to in emergency, and add other details that are current for your child. 
     
  3. Parents/Guardians are asked to download the CANVAS Parent App. You will receive your child's code during OPEN HOUSE to be able to view all your child's online classroom.
     
  4. 6th Grade Parent/Guardians: Proof of Residency needed for each 6th grader. Click here for specific details. 
     
  5. 7th Grade Parent/Guardians: Immunizations completed before first day of school. Click here for specific details.
     
  6. ALL STUDENTS and Parents/Guardians: Read the Student and Parent Handbook and be prepared to complete and sign the HANDBOOK Signature Page English or Spanish at OPEN HOUSE  (or please feel free to print and bring completed to OPEN HOUSE).
     
  7. ALL STUDENTS and Parents/Guardians: Review the STUDENT SUPPLY LIST and purchase for your child for start of school. Bring supplies beginning on the first day of school--August 6, 2024. 
     
  8. ALL STUDENTS and Parents/Guardians: Read the Chromebook Handbook and be prepared to sign the Chromebook Agreement at OPEN HOUSE (or please feel free to print the Chromebook Agreement and bring completed to OPEN HOUSE). 
     
  9. ALL STUDENTS and Parents/Guardians: Read the GCSS Student Medical & Supports Info Sheet and be prepared to complete at OPEN HOUSE. (or please feel free to print the Info Sheet and bring completed to OPEN HOUSE). Parents are asked to bring copies of any medical plans, seizure plan, medication needs while the student is at school to OPEN HOUSE and meet with the nurse. 
     
  10. All Parents/Guardians will need to complete the Emergency Contacts document at Open House (or please feel free to print and bring completed to OPEN HOUSE).
     
  11. ALL STUDENTS and Parents/Guardians: Read the School/Parent Compact (English and Spanish) and be prepared to complete at OPEN HOUSE. (or please feel free to print and bring completed to OPEN HOUSE).
     
  12. Athletes and Weight Training students: Parents/Guardians are asked to update DRAGONFLY MAX accounts for the current school year. Physicals should be uploaded and all questions answered by Parent/Guardian. If you need assistance, Coaches will be available during OPEN HOUSE to assist. All students must have physical and complete DRAGONFLY MAX account approved to tryout and participate in athletics as well as take the Weight Training class offered at GMS.
